Policies

Attendance:

Attendance is mandatory and will be considered when grades are determined. Please arrive on time. Any student arriving after 9:00am will be marked “late”. Students arriving more than fifteen (15) minutes late will be marked “absent”. Three (3) lates equals one (1) absence. More than five (5) absences in a semester will result in failure of the class.  Please make every effort to come to class, on time. Class begins at 9:00am and ends at 12 noon.

LATE ARRIVALS, EARLY DEPARTURES AND EXCESSIVE ABSENCES WILL HAVE A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON YOUR GRADE. (Really. You won’t like it.)

Homework/Assignments:

Students are responsible for completing all assignments as they come due. Each assignment should be handed in on time. Partial credit for work up to one week late is possible, if arrangements have been made between the student and teacher prior to the due date of the assignment (email me). Turning in assignments late will lead to a reduced grade. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain material that they have missed during their absence. Because assignments are posted on the internet, you should not have to ask what you missed on a day that you missed class.

Grading:

Your grade will be based on attendance, assignments and class participation. See (or contact) Lauren to discuss these at any time if you are worried.

Want an “A”? Hey, who doesn’t?

An easy way to get an “A” is to attend class regularly and on time (that means all of them), turn in all your assignments when they are due, and participate in class. That means ask questions, make suggestions or just nod your head to show you understand! (It’s that simple!) All you have to do is make the effort.
